Shannon Powell Valentine graduated summa cum laude from Florida Southern College in Lakeland, Florida, in 1998, earning a Bachelor of Science in Accounting and Business Administration. She earned licensure as a Florida Certified Public Accountant in March 2000 and was awarded a Certificate of Merit from the Florida Institute of Certified Public Accountants (FICPA) for achieving one of the highest scores on the November 1999 CPA exam.
In 2003, Shannon earned her Juris Doctor, magna cum laude, from the University of Florida Levin College of Law, where she was awarded the John C. Pinkerton Scholarship and received multiple book awards, including in Legal Research and Writing and Corporations. Also in 2003, she earned her Master of Business Administration from the University of Florida Warrington College of Business and was admitted to the Florida Bar.
Shannon began her career in trusts and estates in 2004 as an associate at Fisher, Tousey, Leas & Ball. She recently rejoined the firm after taking time away from the practice of law to raise her two children. She is married to Kurt Valentine, Assistant Vice President & Legal Counsel, Unum Group. She enjoys spending time at the beach, traveling, cooking, and being with family and friends.
