Fisher Tousey Saddened by Passing of Shareholder Harris L. Bonnette, Jr.

Jacksonville, Fla. – January 8th, 2023 – Fisher Tousey is extremely saddened to announce the passing of beloved shareholder Harris LaRue Bonnette, Jr. Harris passed on December 29th, 2023, in Jacksonville, FL after his battle with cancer. Harris joined Fisher Tousey in 2011 to create and lead the firm’s Tax Controversy department, which he oversaw for the past twelve years. Harris concentrated his practice on tax controversies, trust and estate disputes, and probate and trust administrations.

Harris earned his Juris Doctor from the University of Miami, his LL.M. in Taxation from Washington University in St. Louis, and was previously an attorney for the Internal Revenue Service Chief Counsel’s Office from 1990 until 1995. Harris was admitted to the Florida Bar, all US District Courts in Florida, the U.S. Court of Federal Claims, the U.S. Tax Court, and the U.S. 11th Circuit Court of Appeals. Harris was the Chair of the Tax Section of the Florida Bar between 2021 and 2022. Harris was also an adjunct professor for the Graduate Program in Estate Planning at the University of Miami School of Law.

Harris is survived by his wife, Linda, and his son, Marshall. Harris will be deeply missed by our firm and all those who had the pleasure of knowing him.
